Customisable/Editable AI to NPC party
It can be nice if these more customisable NPC party members can be edited ingame to eg do. Use ability X to target Y when ally Z is under attack.
Etc, etc. Ability to use standard NPC party AI and do own with simple editing.

So far, all that is confirmed is that you can pick what skills to equip them with, I doubt it will be as advanced as allowing you to program their AI....

It is an cool idea though, but imo it should be reserved to Heroes only
Imagine...
<very optimistic voice on>
Join the ultimate pve and pvp challenge!
Code your own heroes and go with them into battle against other people with their heroes (sounds a bit like pokemon xD)
Not in the mood for pvp? Relax in pve exploring Elona/Cantha/Tyria and solving quests while having Heroes do EXACTLY what you would want them to do!
<very optimistic voice off>
Too bad it's not going to happen.......

I wonder if the skills that you can pick from relates to the expansions you have. So can I equip one of my heroes with Factions/Prophecies and Nightfall skills? Or is it purely Nightfall skills that I can equip?

there was already a dev post saying this is for the heros only
other posts seem to show a 3 hero limit from the statement that the last part of the game can be done by only 2 people with 3 heros each.

If you watch the video linked here:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10040621
they do confirm the 3 hero limit in the presentation. Also you gain access to different heroes as you progress through the storyline and I believe it said somewhere that choosing certain heroes will later make certain other heroes available and close off other ones from you forever.

That's interesting....can ya give a link to this aswell ?
Anyway, back on topic....
If it will be added, I hope it will work like a programming language (C++ anyone?)
Of course, they should make some default AI script, that can always be set back, in case you screw it up and an manual with a list of all procedures/variables/etc. with a short explanation and maybe an example to each...

couldnt find it fast but the other bit was covered as well.
you will have a few set commands and thats all.
like stay, attack target, etc.
which is about all they could do from a menu as they certainly will not let someone outside introduce code of any type into the game.
possibly more like the dungeon seige basic commands

Too bad....I still have hope though, scripting henchies by ourselves has potential, and would really enchance (imo) HvH battles, it'd be like discussing the tactic before a TA game or something like that....

I think basic commands are fine.
I mean, do you really want to have to enter in every variable?
I'd rather set a command (say, "Heal Target"), and let the AI figure out the best way to follow the command.
I read somewhere that the AI is actually very advanced for the Henchman, they just had to dumb it down to keep it from being more effective than Humans.
I'm not saying this means that Heroes will be as smart as a typical player, but I do assume that Heroes will at least be smarter then the typical Henchie.

My theory, take or leave:
commands will be somthing like this:
attack - attacks anything within aggro circle, preferably your target
defend - defends you by healing you, or using skills on the enemy that is killing you.
retreat - will not attack, will move away from attacking foes, will heal/etc as needed.
henchies already know how to use skills. monster AI is no different. The heros will definately not be different.
tell them how to act, and they will act accordingly. You cant change their skills halfway thru a mission, so its not like you just go Henchway AFK and win the game or anything.
I just want one hero to cast bed of coals, one hero to cast brambles, and one hero to KD. Ill play a rit with earthbind.
Im not expecting too much out of the Henchway, so practically any kind of improvement on them will knock my socks off.
IM STILL PRAYING TO THE UNHOLY GODS OF ANET TO GIVE US A SPECIAL COLLECTORS EDITION HERO (ghostly plz!)

I'll be happy if there is a "don't rez me right now because if you do I will simply be killed again before i can get off a single skill" command.
Although I'm really exited over the simple fact that we'll be able to give them the skills we want. It should make it a lot easier for people who want to solo or just play with a freind or two to get throught the more difficult missions.
